Due to low numbers of Chinook and Sockeye Salmon in the Skeena River, the Office of the Wet’suwet’en has issued a release saying they will not harvest these species in 2018 until further notice.
At this time, Wet’suwet’en Officials are asking members of the public to also play their part by not harvesting either Chinook or Sockeye Salmon, to reduce negative impacts.
If you happen to have female fish of either species, it is asked you return them to their natural habitats to hopefully bring numbers up.
Moose News has reached out to the Office of the Wet’suwet’en on this issue and are awaiting their response.
