Ben Williams works at the Pleasant Valley Plaza Movie Theatre in Houston and is making some national headlines with his creative art work.
Williams explains how his job at the theatre turned into something more on the release day of Deadpool 2.
“The funny thing is I didn’t really do anything besides my job. As we are in the northern region of BC, sometimes it takes a little bit longer for things to arrive at our theatre. On the opening day of Deadpool 2, we didn’t have the poster for the movie and that happens from time to time. I figured rather than put up a generic piece of paper like we do sometimes, I’d improvise and make my own Deadpool dedicated poster, out of a leftover Melissa McCarthy, Life of the Party poster we had laying around.”
That improvisation has now caught the attention of the world as Williams poster has over 125,000 views on Buzzfeed
“Like I said I had no intentions of this blowing up the way it did but I have to admit, it’s pretty cool. I’m a humble guy who was just doing his job, however, it seems I have now put our tiny little town on the map, which is a surreal feeling. I literally graduated with 20 people so that speaks to how rural Houston is. It’s amazing the reach that social media has now a days and I think the simplicity of it is probably the reason why it was so popular.”
