Bulkley Valley and Lakes District Weather Update, June 8th

If you’re looking for precipitation and cooler temperatures, the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District is the place for you this weekend.

Environment Canada Meteorologist, Jennifer Hay, says the rain is expected to hang around for the foreseeable future.

“It’s looking as though the pattern of scattered rain from the last couple days is going to continue heading into the weekend. There’s currently an upper trough that’s sitting off the coast making it’s way into Northern BC, which should make for cooler temperatures throughout most of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. With that trough, there’s a possibility of thunderstorms throughout the weekend and a chance for 10-15 mm’s of rain.”

Hay says with that trough making it’s way through the region, expect night time lows to be just above zero for the entirety of the weekend.

So the burning question now is, when will the sunshine and warmer June temperatures return?

“The Bulkley Valley and Lakes District can expect everything to dry out late Monday evening heading into Tuesday and Wednesday of early next week. With that, sunshine is expected in the forecast and we can look for temperatures to be in that 20 degree range.”
