No charges in Lakeland explosion

Lakeland_CloseupNo charges will be laid in the deadly Lakeland Mills explosion in Prince George.

The crown says based on the available evidence, there is little likelihood of conviction.

The same decision not to lay charges played out in connection with a similar blast in Burns Lake.

The Lakeland explosion killed two workers and injured 22 two years ago this month.

BC Attorney General Suzanne Anton has ordered an inquest into the explosion and Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe says she’s considering combining it with the inquest into the mill explosion in Burns Lake.

She says a final decision on that will be made by the end of this month.
