Skeena NDP MP Nathan Cullen is weighing in on Seabridge Gold’s KSM mine project.

He says the company has some social license work to do because some of the First Nations groups will face large implications from the mine.

But he says he thinks KSM knows that and are willing to modify the project.

“They feel confident with their application. This is about relationships and some of these relationships take quite awhile. So getting some groups on board is a good start, getting more groups is also important and then working through the process.”

He says the challenge for every mining company is that between Enbridge and the government weakening environmental protection laws the public has lost faith in the process.

He says that adds more pressure to the companies to ensure the public that the risks don’t outweigh the benefits.
