Bulkley Valley schools will be on strike on Thursday next week as rotating strike action continues across B.C.
The Smithers, Houston and Burns Lake schools will be closed on Thursday with Hazelton schools closed on Friday.
Superintendent Chris van der Mark says parents and kids shouldn’t worry yet about cancelled end of year events or lockouts as negotiating is ongoing.
“The one thing that we have been very clear about communicating is that even up to this point in the strike action that has been going on, our teachers have continued to do a fantastic job. Obviously it is difficult to do in these situations but certainly we have a high degree of confidence that staff will continue to make sure that those opportunities are met as best as possible.”
Next week’s strike days are part of the rotating strike action across B.C. as the BCTF negotiates pay raises and class composition with the provincial government.
