The Smithers Canadian Tire is hosting its Jumpstart Day fundraiser tomorrow.
“We are having a car wash as well as a barbecue to raise funds through donations. All money that we raise throughout the year, and this weekend stays within the community. Cumulatively, through Jumpstart Day last year and our initiatives we did throughout the year we were able to help approximately 148 children here in town participate in sports that they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to,” says store manager, Shane Mooth.
Jumpstart is a nation-wide non profit that helps disadvantaged children participate in sports.
The BBQ and car wash runs tomorrow at Canadian Tire from one until three.
Additionally, on June 14th, Canadian Tire will give a free fishing rod to the first 100 kids through the door with a donation of Canadian Tire money for the Jumpstart cause. Mooth says the rods can be given as Father’s Day gifts the next day.
