Mayor releases results of social media Smithers survey

Smithers mayor Taylor Bachrach has released the results of his recent survey of resident priorities.

Bachrach says he got over one thousand responses to his Facebook survey on the direction the town is going.

“It’s not a scientific survey but it does provide some interesting feedback and it’s the kind of thing that council will keep in mind when we are talking about new priorities for the town. Knowing what direction they want us to head in is very helpful.”

According to Bachrach’s survey, Bulkley Valley residents were the most supportive of curbside recycling and the airport expansion and knew less about the Fairground’s land use plans and airport industrial developments.

Moving forward, residents want the Town to focus mainly on attracting new business and maintaining infrastructure and less on lowering taxes and services.

The complete results are posted on Bachrach’s facebook page.
