There won’t be a relay for life this year in Smithers, which means there also won’t be a luminary lap.
A day-time daffodil dash will be replacing the usual 24 hour relay for life.
One of the organizers Annette Ingham says instead of lighting candles for those who have lost their battle with cancer, they are doing something different.
“We can’t do that at this event,” she says. “So what we are going to do is an ‘in honour and memory’ balloon arch. Balloons are on sale at the Bulkley Valley Credit Union for $2.”
Balloons are now available for purchase.
The new fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society will be held on Sunday, April 26.
