Donaldson pushes province for money for new arena in Hazelton

The Stikine MLA has made a speech in the provincial legislature today to bring attention to the need for a new ice arena in Hazelton.
Doug Donaldson says it’s his job to keep the pressure on the government to make sure they know this should be a top priority when it comes to capital infrastructure spending.
“I took the opportunity to make a two minute statement today around the need for a new recreation facility in Hazelton,” he says. “Also, to make members aware that the current one was condemned on March 12th.”
A structural engineer closed the Ken Trombley Memorial Arena and ended many sports programs earlier this winter with fears the roof would collapse.
The idea to bring a new arena to the area has been in the works for some time now and around four million dollars has already been raised.
