An information session on the ice arena situation in Hazelton has been held and well attended.
A structural engineer closed the Ken Trombley Memorial Arena and ended many sports programs earlier this winter with fears the roof would collapse.
Head of the Heart of Hazeltons Committee Peter Newbery says about fifty people came out last night to hear what’s going on.
“The point was to bring people up to date on the plans on how we will deal with the old arena including demolition and what will replace it for a period of two years while we build a new recreation centre,” he says.
Newbery says some of the suggestions included having an open air rink or borrowing a temporary steel structure to cover the old ice.
