Go fund me page set up for baby Emrie

Fundraising efforts have started to help the baby of a former Smithers’ resident.
Elizabeth Thompson says her four month old niece, Emrie hasĀ a narrow trachea, a tear near her heart valve and is currently fighting some viruses.
“Because her trachea is so tiny, she can’t breathe properly,” she says. “So she is on a breathing machine to keep her breathing and she isn’t big enough or healthy enough so they have to keep her sedated for the next three weeks until they can do surgery.”
Emrie’s parents, who now live in Kelowna, are staying in VancouverĀ near the children’s hospitalĀ to be close to her.Ā This means, they can’t work and will soon have to start paying for accommodations.Ā Thompson says they have started a go fund me page to help with some of the costs.
