Fire in north west end of Smithers

A grass fire near Zobnick Road in Smithers has burned almost 6 hectares of brush.
Fire chief Keith Stecko says last evening’s fire required a large emergency response team.
“We had forestry that responded, we had Telkwa Fire attend who brought out two units and five firefighters, the RCMP and ambulance also came out,” he says. “In total, we had 37 firefighters combating that fire.”
Stecko says the cause is still unknown at this time.
No one was injured and no structures were damaged.
