Steelhead Multicultural Society wants railway building

The Steelhead Multicultural Society in Houston still has their sights on obtaining the old railway station building.
Director Glen Farrell says the society has been trying for 13 years to gain ownership so that it can be restored and rented out to community groups.
He says the trouble is, the building is owned by Via Rail, sits on CN’s property and now the district may want it.
“We went to mayor and council to find out where they stood with regard to that and if they were still supportive of us to get the building and our plans,” he says. “We need some sort of letter from them showing their support.”
The building is currently vacant. Farrell says council wants to discuss it amongst themselves and will get back to the society in the near future.
