Smithers’ very own Mayor Taylor Bachrach has been chosen to participate in a special national event.
The Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference is held every 3-4 years, and only a few “emerging leaders” in Canada are accepted to participate.
Those selected are sent to different places in Canada to experience the challenges and opportunities unique to those areas.
Needless to say, Bachrach is pretty excited.
“Frankly I’m pretty pumped, it’s going to be good,” he says.
The Mayor will begin his conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland before heading to Manitoba. After working in the province for ten days, Bachrach and his team will then present their findings to the Governor General, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston.
“I’ve never met him before, but that’s going to be a new experience. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Mayor Bachrach leaves for his adventure May 20th.
