Second Avenue just East of Main was the place to be Monday morning, as Smithereens “geared” up for Bike to Work Week.
The street was been closed to hold events, which included an obstacle course and “slow race,” as well as have food and registration. Music was even playing from a bicycle-powered PA system.
Organizer Liliana Dragowska says she is looking forward to the Smithers atmosphere this week.
“That we have a lot of happy people riding their bikes around town, enjoying it, celebrating it, really embracing the bike-commuting culture. We have such a nice, compact community and it’s so exciting riding around and seeing other people on their bikes,” she says.
Bike to Work Week will run until May 31.
