For one night only, Smithereens will be able to stay up past their bedtimes.
Smithers Council decided they will wave the Noise Control Bylaw for Canada Day for the Fireworks show downtown.
The bylaw states no noise after 10 pm. This conflicts with the time in which fireworks are visible since the sun sets around the same time.
With the bylaw waived, there will be fireworks between 10:30 and 11:30 in Bovill Square on Canada Day.
