Tens of people attended last night’s June Forum to hear the Bulkley Valley School District’s “Sportsplex” proposal.
The near two-hour presentation and Q&A addressed many of the public’s concerns, including one regarding one of accessibility for students outside of Smithers.
Board Chairman Les Kearns says the school board could address this with scheduling.
“To operate that building the way we want to operate it gives us the opportunity to prioritize our students and their needs,” he says.
The proposed “Sportsplex” would be an indoor turf field built at SSS.
The School board has put forth approximately 1.5 million in funding already, leaving about $2 – $2.5 million left to be sponsored should this idea be approved.
