Telkwa Council Meeting Preview

The Village of Telkwa will be holding its regular meeting this evening.

Among the many things on the agenda, Council has received a request from the Monarchist League of Canada to hold an event in the Queen’s honour.

In September, Queen Elizabeth is set to become the longest governing monarch in recent history.

The Monarchist League has asked not only Telkwa, but 3500 Canadian municipalities to participate as well.

The proposed 20-minute ceremony would take place on September 9th.

Another thing being addressed tonight will be from the Transit Committee’s Final Report.

BC Transit has recommended that Smithers and District Transit simplify their system by reducing fares and providing pre-purchased discounts.

They suggest keeping single ticket prices the same for the two zones, but dropping Monthly Discounts from 45 to 42 dollars for Seniors and students.

Telkwa Council will be held in the Council Chambers at 7 o’clock, the public are encouraged to attend.
