Telkwa Council held a Meeting of the Whole today for a serious discussion regarding safety at the Music in the Park events.
In order to keep the performances in Eddy Park, Council had a short-notice meeting to come up with new safety ideas.
Mayor Darcy Repen says this was a serious issue that needed immediate attention.
“There are some and have been, concerns about the safety of particularly small children with the river and the highway there. Previously, there weren’t a lot of safety mechanisms in place” he says.
Some ideas included banning highway parking, river patrol, and diminishing loitering groups.
Because the meeting was on such short notice, Repen is asking any member of the public with interest or concerns to tell Council about them.
