Smithers RCMP have made an arrest in response to graffiti found around town.
3- and 4-letter acronyms like “NFG,” “NISK,” “NOKS,” and “ELKS” began showing up around Smither in early March. Since, the graffiti has damaged 8 business, 2 business vehicles, multiple city dumpsters, the Smithers Golf Course, Riverside campground, Bluff Mountain bike trails, Bulkley River bridge, Telkwa River bridge, a bridge along Telkwa River Rd, the Telkwa Hankin Road underpass, and the new cross country ski trail underpass on Hudson Bay Mountain Rd
On June 2nd, officers arrested a 23-year-old in relation to these offenses last week. He was released with the promise to appear in Provincial Court June 30th.
Police believe the arrested man worked with others and are asking anyone with information to contact the Smithers RCMP at 250-847-3233 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
