Attempted Child Luring in Terrace

Terrace RCMP are looking for a suspect in a luring case that happened Tuesday night.

Around 8 PM, a 14-year-old girl was walking alone through a local coffee shop parking lot on Keith avenue when approached by a man in a blue van.

The girl ignored him, but he continued to talk to her and asked if shew wanted to make some money. She rushed to a nearby car and the van took off.

Terrace RCMP Constable Angela Rabut says you should always be aware of your surroundings.

you’ve got to use your sixth sense like what this girl did here. She felt that something wasn’t quite right so she got help from somebody. You need to trust that gut instinct, it is a very powerful emotion. When I talk to kids all the time, I tell them [to] trust it.”

The van is described as a shiny, newer, navy blue minivan. It had a roof rack with items in it, one of which may have been red.

The front passenger seat had attached to head rest.

The suspect is a caucasian male between 25 and 35 years old. He has auburn, wavy hair 2-3 inches long and a well-groomed beard.
