Cycle 16 to receive funding by the province

Twelve new destination and tourism infrastructure developments have received funding from the province in the North.

Among the projects include Cycle 16 and the Regional District of Bulkley- Nechako.

The project received $44,431 for development and installment of a bench and informational kiosk at one of the viewpoints along the Cycle 16 path between Smithers and Telkwa.

The funding is a part of the allocated $13.6 million to create employment, attract new business and increase economic diversification within communities.

Projects who received the funding must be completed by March 2023.

Northern BC Tourism Association, in partnership with community destination management organizations, local and regional governments, First Nations, nonprofits and other partners, have worked together to identify initiatives that will enhance the region’s tourism amenities and experiences.

The funding is a part of B.C.’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.
