A Bulkley Valley plant is taking steps to become friendlier to the environment.
Particleboard manufacturing plant Northern Engineered Wood Products (2007) Inc, or “NEWPRO”, has applied for a permit amendment under the provisions of the Environmental Management Act.
The plant hopes to change and become a wood pellet manufacturing plant. This allows them to reduce the number of point source discharge locations from 13 to 4.
This would mean a 94% reduction in Total Particulate matter.
The next step will be a Town Council Committee of the Whole meeting to discuss the proposal on July 10th.
NEWPRO will hold public presentations at the plant located at 2749 Railway Avenue on July 9th, 10th, and 11th.
