Aboriginal Day Celebrations are starting at little early at Houston’s Northwest Community College.
While Ab Day is celebrated on Sunday, the College is having it’s events tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon.
This will be the first time the College has put on any events on their own, after learning from the community and receiving a First Nations Health Authority Grant stream.
College spokesperson Katie Humphrey says it’s important for everyone to acknowledge and celebrate tomorrow.
“Proving an opportunity for communities to share in culture and show community support and spirit, as well as building healthy and vibrant first nations,” she says.
The event will run from noon – 4 tomorrow and will have a professional cook preparing a free BBQ, as well as face painting and activities for the kids.
