A single car crash this weekend has left a 19-year-old man dead.
Smithers RCMP and local emergency services responded to a vehicle rollover on Telkwa High Road around 3 am on Sunday morning.
Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the Ford F-150 during the incident.
The man was taken to Bulkley Valley Hospital and died from his injuries.
While the cause is under investigation, Corporal Dave Tyreman believes speed and alcohol were involved. He reminds everyone to plan a responsible way home.
“We know young people are going to drink but do so with respect that you have a designated driver,” he says. “We want everybody to get home safely and we want to keep our roads safe.”
The 19-year-old female passenger was treated for minor injuries and was released shortly afterwards.
The driver’s name has not been released.
