A grass fire near Round Lake burned 1.1 hectares of private land on June 22nd.
Telkwa Volunteer firefighters and 8 wildfire management branch personnel responded to the call around 9:00 PM.
Crews were on scene until about 11:30 PM.
Northwest Fire Centre Information Officer Olivia Pojar says the fire was human-caused, and people need to think twice while riding around in this weather.
“It’s going to be getting very dry and warm and the wildfire management branch really stresses that people should be very careful with fire use and, really, activities in the back-country,” she says.
Firefighters are on the scene again today doing “mop up” and extinguishing any remaining threats.
There have been no reported injuries.
