A Northern BC group has shown interest in buying some Smithers property.
The Bryton Group of Prince George has applied to rezone the open area at Main and Princess.
The group’s initial proposal includes a 4-story hotel which would break Town bylaw.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says the rezoning application would create more opportunities for a building like this in town.
“The proposal is to create a new zone that allows four stories for the purposes of the hotel,” he says.
The Bryton Group’s proposal will be presented to the Advisory Planning Commission on Tuesday, June 30th.
There will also be a public input process to address any concerns or support to Council.
