New Technology-teaching Gagdets at Library

Smithers Public Library is making Computer Programming as easy as pushing a button.

After receiving a grant from the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation, they’ve purchased 5 technology kits for ages 9 and up.

Of the 5, there are microcomputers and interactive robots, and interactive clips.

Director Wendy Wright says the simplest one, the Makey Makey, turns absolutely anything into a keyboard.

“That can be your finger, it can be your a glass of water, it can be a piece of wood, it can be an article of clothing, a balloon, anything, fruit,” she says, “and you turn that object into a touch-pad for your computer. It’s wild!”

Any of the five can be checked out of the library just like a book starting June 25th.
