A local animal shelter will be celebrating a major milestone this week.
What started from humble beginnings in 1989, Northern Lights Animal Shelter has now been rescuing wildlife from across BC.
Owner Angelika Langen shares a favourite moment of the shelters first grizzly bear rescue in 2007.
“We needed to go to Dawson creek and rush off in the late afternoon and drove through the night to get to the animal so that we could take it in,” she say “those kinds of things really stick with you.”
The shelter will be celebrating its achievement Wednesday with it’s annual Canada Day open House from 10 AM until 6 PM. There will be door prizes, loonie auctions, and lunch for sale. Visitors are reminded there is a lot of walking so wear good shoes.
