Wet’suwet’en First Nation, 5 others sign with TransCanada

6 Northern BC Bands have signed a project agreement with TransCanada’s Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project.

The Wet’suwet’en First Nation is just one of the six; the other five are Skin Tyee Nation, Nee-Tahi-Buhn Band, Yekooche First Nation, Doig River First Nation, and Halfway River First Nation.

The agreement includes financial aid benefits, a small piece of what Costal GasLink says is a long-term approach to working with First Nations in the LNG Industry.

Coastal GasLink says this project will have economic benefits, such as 2000 jobs during construction and around $20 million in annual property tax payments.

No one from the Wet’suwet’en First Nation was available for comment.
