BC Highway Patrol still looking into Highway 97 pedestrian fatal south of PG

A fatal collision involving a pedestrian remains under investigation according to the BC Highway Patrol.

It occurred early this morning (Wednesday) on Highway 97 near Widdis Road in the Woodpecker area, 45 km south of Prince George.

The BC Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation with the assistance of the Coroners’ Service.

Highway 97 has been re-opened to all traffic after being shut down for several hours.

The Independent Investigations Office confirmed to Vista Radio they have been notified of the incident and they are trying to confirm if there is a connection to police actions in this matter.

No further information is available at this time and updates in the near future are not anticipated.

Anyone who may have travelled through the area between 1:00 and 3:30 am that may have dashboard camera video is being asked to contact the Highway Patrol.
