Canadians expected to pay an extra $1000 for groceries in 2022

Canadians are going to feel the pinch at the grocery store.

Canada’s Food Price Report suggests a family of four will be paying an extra thousand dollars next year for groceries.

Research shows food prices will climb between five and seven percent in 2022.

Restaurant meals, dairy, vegetables, and baked goods will soar between six to eight percent.

If you use delivery services or online grocery platforms expect prices to go up between two to eight percent.

The report blames the increase on labour shortages, supply chain issues, high energy prices, and weather events. Statistics Canada reported the country’s food inflation rate hit 3-point-eight percent in October.
