The Lakes District Film Appreciation Society has received a $20,000 boost courtesy of the Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund.
It is in support of the Beacon Facade project.
The Beacon Theatre in Burns Lake is one of only a handful of community-owned theatres in the province.
In addition, the facility often serves as a starting point for youth who enter the workforce.
The Appreciation Society recently completed a massive renovation of the theatre and the additional money will complete the final phase of upgrades.
“The Beacon Theatre is an iconic community venue that not only is an economic asset but also provides a place for social connection (and excellent popcorn!) that is especially vital during these times. The Board is pleased to be able to support this project,” said Cindy Shelford, NKDF Chair.
The Nechako-Kitamaat Development Fund Society was jointly established in 1997.
