Local events receive funding boost from the province

The province has provided nearly $30 million in funding through the Fair, Festivals and Events Recovery Grant. 

A total of 43 events have been provided funding including six within the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District. 

Recipients of funding are: 

  • BCHL Roadshow in Burns Lake-2 games- $22,674
  • Fun, Frost and Family Festival in Burns Lake- $2,750
  • Lake District Fall Fair, Children’s Music Festival- $19,000
  • 103rd Bulkley Valley Exhibition- $40,000
  • Smithers Saltos Invitational- $8,566

Additionally, a total of 681 recipients provincewide have received funding as a part of this grant. 

Applications for the grant were submitted from August 27 to October 1 for events scheduled from July 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022. 

The Grant amounts for each event are as much as 20% of the total event budget for a maximum of $250,000.
