A winter storm watch is in effect for the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District, as well as much of the Highway 16 corridor.
According to Environment Canada, heavy snow is possible from Friday until Saturday.
It is possible the region will see snowfall amounts of 20 to 30cm.
Environment Canada said in a notice a pacific frontal system mixed with a cold air mass will give heavy snow.
The snow is expected to start late Friday and taper off during the day on Saturday.
Travel is expected to be hazardous at times because of low visibility.
Anyone who must travel is being advised to keep others informed and to carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.
