RCMP arrest former PG resident following homicide in August of 2020

An arrest has been made in relation to a homicide that occurred in the Prince George area last year.

On August 1st of 2020, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a body discovered approximately 40 kilometers east of city limits.

The remains were identified as being 34-year-old local woman Crystal Chambers.

The BC RCMP Major Crime Section – Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) conducted the file, with the assistance of the North District and PG detachments.

Jason Troy Getty was arrested in Surrey on Friday.

He was charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of Indignity to Human Remains by the BC Prosecution Service.

Getty was previously a resident of Prince George and was known to the victim.

“This arrest is a direct result of the dedication and perseverance of numerous investigators and support units within the RCMP over the last 17 months. The investigation remains active and we urge any individuals with information to come forward to the RCMP, said Staff Sergeant Greg Yanicki, Team Commander of CIU.”

No further details will be released as the matter is now before the court.
