2021 a challenging year says Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen

Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen says community members in the North and the province showed resilience in 2021.

According to Cullen, this was shown after there was one crisis after another throughout the province.

He said that throughout the year we’ve had to learn the old lessons about what it’s like relying on one another.

“I’m just so proud of the community we have in the North and just when governance is a good partner how we can get through things together,” Cullen said.

He added that for 2022 there is a long list of projects that are being worked on within the North.

Cullen explained what some of the focuses are for 2022.

“The budget for the province is still running a deficit but it is significantly smaller than we expected, making sure we’re supporting small businesses, making sure we’re boosting up our health care, our ambulance service, all those investments that we [the province] have made,” he said.

According to Cullen, COVID-19 remains front and centre as the province continues to navigate how to keep community members safe.

He added he is also grateful to be able to live and serve within the North.
