Forecasted Smoke to have minimal impact on BV

21 new fires were discovered in the province on Saturday, July 4th alone, which has affected air quality throughout BC.

However, Bulkley Valley is in the clear for the time being.will not see much smoke.

Northwest Fire Centre spokesperson Olivia Pojar says residents will see some smoke, but we will be one of the least affected areas.

“There’s not going to be as much smoke in the Bulkley Valley as, for example, the lower mainland or Alberta,” she says, “There’s still going to be some smoke because there are fires all over the Province and depending on the way the wind shifts, smoke could come into the valley.”

It is forecasted that smoke from Northwest BC fires is South- and Eastbound, headed to the Sunshine Coast and Prince George areas.

According to BC Wildfire, the Northwest region has had 55 forest fires and lost 23,097 hectares since April 1, 2015, (stats up-to-date as of July 5th, 2015).
