New Hazelton home invasion leaves one person injured

One woman was injured after she was shot in a home invasion in New Hazelton.

Last Sunday (Jan 16), police were called to the 2100 block of 23rd Avenue after three suspects with firearms entered the home.

According to RCMP, witnesses say the three suspects who were wearing masks tried to enter a room in the house when shots were fired.

The woman was taken to hospital and her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

When RCMP arrived at the home numerous people were at the residence who said the suspects fled before police arrived.

Possible suspects have also been identified by the RCMP.

Staff Sgt. Darren Durnin said the incident appears to have been targeted and police believe there is no further risk to the general public.
