UPDATE: The fire is located in North Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.
BC Wildfire is responding to a 105-hectare wildfire on the east side of Whitesail Lake within North Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.
This is approximately 91 kilometres southwest of Houston and a safe distance from any structures.
Smoke may drift into the communities of Southside, Francois Lake, Houston and Burns Lake.
Wildfire Spokesperson Olivia Pojar says rescue crews won’t be rushing into the area just yet.
for now they’re going to continue to monitor the fire and make up a strategy for response in the future
