With Hawkair’s future vacancy at the Smithers airport, other changes will surely be made as well.
Airlines flying to Vancouver are expected to absorb the future south-bound flyers.
Smithers Regional Airport Manager Rob Blackburn says workers and their hours will also be affected.
“All our work schedules and everything are set up around having Hawkair here so it will certainly be making some adjustments to our work schedules and how we do maintenance, particularly in the winter months.,” he says.
While there will be a void in flights, Central Moutain Air President Douglas McCrea says his airline will continue with it’s normal scheduling for now.
