Local arts and culture sector receives funding by the province

The province has announced that more than $12.4 million in one time funding has been provided to the BC Arts Council.

This will be a way to support artists and organizations.

According to the province, through this funding the arts council will distribute $7.9 million in resilience supplements to more than 300 organizations currently receiving operating assistance.

It added that the average amount is $25,000.

The region saw four groups benefit from this funding including the Bulkley Valley Museum, Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council, Bulkley Valley Folk Music Society and Valley Youth Fiddlers.

Additionally, BC Arts Council has allocated $4.6 million to top up the Arts Impact Grant, which saw local recipients.

The Bulkley Valley Concert Association received $28,500, the Bulkley Valley Folk Music Society was awarded over $26 thousand and the Valley Youth Fiddlers got $10,000.

The province says this program enables applicants to prioritize activities that provide the greatest and most meaningful impact to their organization.

The program’s next intake is expected in winter 2023.
