Police and the family of Cindy Martin, who disappeared near New Hazelton in 2018, say her remains have been located.
According to a news release by RCMP, her remains were found on May 1 and since then the investigation continued to positively identify her remains and to confirm it was her.
Martin was last seen on December 23,2018 after leaving her mother’s house.
She was 50 at the time of her disappearance and shortly after she was reported missing Search and Rescue located her car but she could not be found.
According to her family, they need time to process the news that her remains have been found.
They added that further information on bringing her home to her final resting place will be announced at a later date.
The BC Coroners Service said in an email her death is being investigated and no further information will be released at this time.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact New Hazelton RCMP.
