Hazelton artist featured at the Smithers Art Gallery

A new exhibit has been launched by the Smithers Art Gallery which will include a local artist.

Hazelton’s Leah Pipe will be showcasing her exhibit Deeper into the Forest.

She is an acrylic painter and her show features her love for the outdoors.

Art Gallery Manager Nicole Chernish said it’s important for local artists to be recognized in their home communities.

“We have so much diversity in terms of what is available for people to view, so I feel like everytime you come into the gallery you see something different and you start to recognize that we have world class artisans and artists that are here,” she said.

Additionally, the art gallery is also featuring Prince Rupert potter Chris Fraser.

Chernish also said anyone is welcome to the gallery.

“We’re trying to make it accessible for everyone and just for people to recognize that a gallery can be a really great place to go,” she said.

An opening reception will be held this evening (Friday) and will feature Pipe and live music will be played as a part of the Spirit of the North Festival.

The event will start at 7pm.

Meanwhile, the two exhibits will be at the gallery until September 3.
