The Witset First Nation’s ball diamond was reopened last weekend as a part of its Witset Sports Days.
In April, the First Nation received $150,000 for improvements for the youth/women’s ball field through the Jays Care Foundation.
On Saturday (August 13), during the opening ceremony for Sports Days the Toronto Blue Jays sent a film crew to the opening of the improved ball diamond.
While the official opening ceremonies were on Saturday, an opening fastball game was held on Friday (August 12).
The funding for the diamond was a part of the Field of Dreams program which provided over $1.2 million in infrastructure improvements across Canada.
Witset was among 16 other communities across the country to receive funding.
