The Burns Lake Band says it will hold a by-election for Chief Councillor.
This comes after a court judgment was made in federal court yesterday (Thursday).
In 2021, a byelection was held where Clayton Charlie won by just one vote against Albert Gerow.
After the election, band member Kelsey Lorentz said he did not receive his ballot in time and that it could change the outcome of the election.
The decision has been contested in court which saw hearings in April.
Effective yesterday (September 8) the term of office of Clayton Charlie has ceased and administration is in the process of starting a by-election for chief councillor.
No date for a new byelection has been announced.
