Injury not classified as serious harm during police-involved shooting near Houston

BC’s police watchdog says that the injury sustained by a man during a police-involved shooting near Houston does not meet Police Act requirements for serious harm.

The conclusion came as medical evidence was reviewed.

The IIO added that the initial investigative steps attempted to confirm the level of injury the man sustained.

On August 30, police responded to a report of two people breaking into an area lodge and a short time later police staged at a nearby bridge.

The suspect then shot at an officer and they responded by firing their service pistol.

The IIO investigation is now closed.
