The Wet’suwet’en Nation is mourning the loss of a hereditary chief.
Dini’ze Likhdilye also known as Russell David Tiljoe died on Monday (September 26) at the age of 86.
Tiljoe was a hereditary chief for the Gitdumden and has long established ties within the Nation.
A smoke party will be held in Houston this evening (Thursday) with a memorial to follow tomorrow (Friday).
Additionally, a Funeral will be held on Saturday where he will then be transported to Vanderhoof.
Events to honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation have been postponed until further notice while the nation mourns his death.
