Downtown Sign built Friday morning
It took nearly a year of planning and Smithers finally has a Downtown sign to show for it.
The town received the “Open for Business” Award in October, which came with $10,000 to celebrate downtown businesses. As well as some Council funding, plans were made to start the $13,000 project.
Town Planner Liliana Dragowska says the sign will highlight the importance of Main Street.
“The goal is to attract the drive by traffic and to celebrate, locally, the downtown and ithe importance of the Main Street merchants and the commercial core,” she says.
The sign can be seen at the West corner of Main Street and Highway 16.
